Dr Maya Shetreat-Klein is an adult and paediatric neurologist, herbalist, urban farmer and author of The Dirt Cure: Healthy Food, Healthy Gut, Happy Child, which has been translated into ten languages. In her work, she offers children and adults an integrative approach to cognitive, behavioural and neurological issues by addressing physical, emotional and spiritual components of healing.
Board certified in adult and child neurology as well as paediatrics, Maya has a medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine. She completed the University of Arizona’s Fellowship in Integrative Medicine and now serves on their faculty.
A student of indigenous healers in South America, she lectures internationally on earth-based medicine, botanicals, indigenous healing approaches and the relationship between our health and the natural world. Maya also founded the Terrain Institute, where she teaches and mentors participants in Terrain Medicine™. Maya practices, teaches and lives with her family in New York City, where she keeps seven chickens on her urban farm.
